The Beaumont, Texas, native knocked in the winning run for TWU in all three games, and with her five homers during the series, established a new TWU single-season HR record with 16 big flies. Alabama / A&M GameBryan Sartin, Patrick Murphy, Kasidee Sartin, Braylee Forse, and Ally McKinney gather together after the reigning 2012 National Champion team Alabama Crimson Tide battled the Texas A&M Aggies in College Station on Easter Sunday. Jackie Traina pitched for the Tide, while Mel Dumezich threw for A&M. Both opposing pitchers homered off of one another to make it a very exciting game! Alabama took home the win with a 4-1 score in this third game of a 3 game series. The Tide ended up taking the series two games to one. Currently, Alabama is ranked #4 in the nation this year while the Aggies are ranked 9th. Both universities have first class programs in the Southeastern Conference and are always a competitive threat across the nation. A special thanks goes out to Coach Murphy for taking the time to interact with all the young fans after the game. Kudos to you sir for being a great example to our next generation! ![]() McNeese Camp 2013Several young Shockers spend a beautiful January day at the McNeese Junior Softball Camp hosted by the head coach of the Cowgirls, Mike Smith, and his assistant, Joanna Hardin. McNeese is located in Lake Charles, Louisiana and is within an hour driving distance of Beaumont. They are another very competitive Division 1 program in the Southland Conference. The coaching staff, along with all of their players, were great with our kids and it was definitely time well spent on our part. If you ever get an opportunity to visit one of Coach Smith’s camps, you should give them a look. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and will focus on the smallest of details. The GT Shockers have already committed six different players to McNeese over the last few years. Thanks for having us, and best of luck to the Cowgirls in the 2013 season! ![]() GT Shockers - 2012 Christmas For KidsChristmas is a wonderful time of the year to spread a little love to someone else in need. The GT Shockers recently participated in our second annual “Christmas For Kids” toy drive at the local hospitals and children’s centers here in the Golden Triangle. All of our players and parents within the organization contributed personal monies to purchase numerous toys. We bought over $2,000 worth of goodies to hand out to sick and less fortunate children during the Christmas break. We were able to visit St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Baptist Hospital, The Medical Center, Buckner Place, and the Salvation Army. The toys ranged from warm blankets, to teddy bears, board games, athletic equipment, and numerous other items for boys and girls from toddlers to teens. So many wonderful Blessings come to us throughout the year and this is just a small way for us to give something back to others in need of a little extra support. Our message was simply to try and comfort their situation as much as we could, and help inspire them to battle through their tough times. If nothing else, we wanted them to know that someone else out there was thinking about them, even though none of us had ever met before. Merry Christmas and may God Bless you all from the GT Shocker family! Previous Slide 1/14 Next
2012 GT Shockers Golf TournamentJacob Blanchard, Bryan Sartin, Mike Hammersmith, and Robert Armentrout are seen here wrapping bbq links to feed the full crew of hungry golfers at our first ever 2012 GT Shockers Golf Tournament. This event was held at the prestigious Brentwood Country Club in Beaumont, TX in December of 2012. It was a huge success! We were able to raise nearly $13,000 which will all go into a scholarship fund for our graduating seniors. This will become an annual event for us and we hope to make next year even better. To all of our sponsors that made this possible for our players, we sincerely thank every single one of you! These girls work extremely hard throughout the year both on and off the playing field. This supplemental scholarship money will definitely come in handy for them as they leave us and begin their collegiate careers. We appreciate all of you very much and simply could not do this without your support. Thank you Golden Triangle for supporting your GT Shockers! ![]() Lamar University - DonationMike Hammersmith, Robert Armentrout, and Bryan Sartin present a $5,000 check to Lamar University’s head softball coach Holly Bruder and her assistant, Allison Honkofsky. Thanks to the recent GT Shockers / Lamar University Fall Classic softball tournament held back in September of 2012, we were able to donate this money to Coach Bruder's new softball program. We believe it is important to support our local community wherever we can. Coach Bruder comes to our area from Kentucky's Morehead State University and has about ten years of prior head coaching experience under her belt. She is currently in her first year as the head coach of the newly developed Cardinal squad here in the Southland Conference. Welcome to Beaumont, Texas coaches, and good luck to you all in the 2013 season! ![]() |
